Parameter Group Number
PGN stands for Parameter Group Number and in SAE J1939 is the identifier for a standardized parameter group. A PGN describes what type of data content a J1939 frame or a contained parameter group transports. For logging in the commercial vehicle environment, the PGN is central because only through it can raw J1939 data be interpreted semantically.
