PCAP is a widely used capture file format from network recording and describes how packets are stored in files. In this context, VPCAP is a manufacturer-specific logging format from ViGEM that is offered together with PCAP and MDF as an output format for recorded data. MDF, on the other hand, is the standardized ASAM measurement data format and is used for efficient, structured storage of vehicle and measurement data.
