MIPI CSE stands for MIPI Camera Service Extensions. This specification extends MIPI CSI-2 with additional services such as functional safety and security functions. CSE is a building block of the MIPI automotive ecosystem and can be used to implement functional safety goals as well as—since newer versions—security services for image sensor links. In modern camera and SerDes architectures, CSE is therefore relevant because it provides standardized mechanisms for safe and more secure image data transmission.
