AVB is an IEEE technology suite for synchronized, low-latency, and reliable audio/video streams over Ethernet.

Audio Video Bridging
AVB stands for Audio Video Bridging and refers to a bundle of IEEE technologies for synchronized, low-latency, and reliable audio/video streams over switched Ethernet networks. These include, among others, 802.1AS, 802.1Qav, and stream reservation mechanisms. Historically, AVB is a direct predecessor of many TSN ideas and was developed to transport time-critical media streams over Ethernet in a more deterministic way. In the vehicle, AVB is particularly relevant wherever media or real-time data streams—such as audio, cameras, or cockpit-related applications—need to be transported deterministically and interoperably.
